Installing a new Cooker Hood

Hi.
I'm in a bit of dilemma with my new Cooker Hood we bought. It have two wire outs (not earth), and installation guide is completely rubbish. Googling I understood it is a category 2 appliance.
As we are not keen to install a new power outlet, but have a socket near-by, can we use a "normal" 3 pin plug ignoring the earth bit?
(Hope does make sense).
Thanks in advance.

You can use the plug socket however, a better option would be to wire a dedicated Fused Connection Unit from the socket ring:

Is the cooker hood all plastic? Does it have a square in a square symbol on the information plate? If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!

Thanks for your reply Myser.
Yes, I have a doubled square symbol on hood.....and I agree is better to have a dedicated unit.
So I understand is OK to just plug it on socket.
Thanks again.0
