can't sync i-tunes ?

something seems to have changed .. when i attach ipod to laptop.. itunes opens .. shows list of my 1800 tunes ... does say at the top in middle box " syncing" for a couple of seconds then says "ipod syunc complete" .. but ipod says only 340 on ?

Also on the itunes page i cannot see any click for syncing ?
There is the bar with clicks for .... file, edit.view, controls , store , help , but can't see anything there about syncing ?

Also when clicking loads of tracks on iunes page nothing happens and pop up says "original file cannot be found"

Hope this makes sense ?! , any ideas ?
thanks

What version of iTunes are you using?
Have you moved/deleted any files off your computer recently?
    How full is your iPod?
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?
  • don't know / don't know how to tell which version .... but it's had all latest updates .

Yes , it was on a previous laptop.

80g ipod says it has 71g free.

What was 'on a previous laptop' ?

Your iTunes library that you previously synced the iPod to?

Have you taken any steps to copy this library to the new laptop?
  • When i open "itunes" icon ... i'm assuming this is my " library" ie it lists individual tunes x 1800 in total .

All looks similar to what i had on previous laptop .. ?

The music folder should be in iTunes media, not a separate one outside iTunes.

Don't know much about iTunes, but I do know my nephew recently moved to a different program called CopyTrans Manager and is much happier using it than that bloated Apple nonsense!

    http://www.copytrans.net/

Might be worth looking at if you fancy an alternative!

Quality argument there... "I don't know much about it, but it's rubbish."

But yes, instead if using iTunes which is free, why not spend $40 on another product to do the same job.
