conservatory heat pump
Hi everyone I was really going for some advice on how to go about heating my conservatory.
It is 15m2 with dwarf walls all around and I have just insulated the roof to try and keep the temperature better in both winter and summer.
I have spent so much time looking into different heating methods and just when I think I've found the way to go I read something about them that changes my mind.
Just this morning I was sure a rointe rad what I wanted
after having it recommended to me but after Google brought me to these forums I now realise that is definitely not the case so thanks to you guys for saving me there.
I keep coming back to these air to air heat pumps and in particular one called a comfyair 12000 which I would post a link to but it won't let me.

But what do you think of this it is a lot of money but actually as these things go seems a good price.
They are apparently very cost effective and will be able to keep the room cool in the summer as well.
But will this one be noisy as it's mounted in the wall.?
Are they as efficient as they say?
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated

It costs £442 and produces 3kw of heat and 12,000Bthu of cooling. Work it out, it sill needs some power, say approx. 1kw to generate 3kw of heat and a bit more for 12,000Bthu, say 1.5.
A fan heater will cost you £25-£50 depending on how posh it is, but won't actually cool but will blow the breeze about.
So you've got to work out how long it will be to recoup the £400 difference in energy costs, say 2kw/hr at 15p = £0.30 = 1333hrs - work out how many hours a day you'll be heating it before you have recovered the extra cost , several years I suspect.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
1kw from an electric heater cost 13p
1kw from the unit with assumed COP of 3 =4.3p
So as you can see its 3 times cheaper to heat the area, but £400 extra initial outlay.
If you are using it a lot, it should pay for itself easily over 2 years compared to an electric heater, with the advantage of the AC when you need it in the summer.
looks like a no brainer to me.
This one also looks good if you want a bit extra power

I do talk from experience as i did have a simmilar unit before, and it was brilliant0 -
Both posts above are valid IMO.
It all depends how much you will use the heating in the conservatory, but you would need to use it a great deal for payback in two years.
Sorry to throw in another factor, but will the noise be a problem for you or neighbours0 -
Thanks for the replies everyone.
I can see the points from them all that's why I am struggling so much to decide on the best option.
The plan is basically for the room to be usable most of the day of possible.
The noise is something that was also worrying me.
Are they that noisy?
I also found this yesterday any opinions?

Another option was a myson fan radiator but I really wanted a heating option that was not reliant on the CH running.
Thanks again tho.0
