My husband is a builder and knows several people who charge £25-40 a day for this type of work. Being in the trade we tend to know the going rate.
I find this hard to believe too. £3.12 per hour ??? Unless of course you are using foreign labour (possibly illegal aliens) without CIS registration. Otherwise £25-40 is not the going rate - a painter with basic experience can command £75-90.0 -

No british worker, worked until about 2pm to get that amount of days work done.
I stand corrected by my husband who has just come in...
£30 was half day rate, full day rate £600 -
that is a shocking amount of money to pay anyone for a days work. I would go as far as to say its immoral, for many reasons
And what reasons would they be Hankyman eh??????? what would you charge ? something like £250 a day, eh ,eh, !!!!! your the type that over charges an old lady no doubt:mad:   :mad:0 -

Well that's £7.50 per hour which is not that far out for someone who is not running his own business.
I wouldn't work for that but I'm paying my own overheads. However I know people here are paying their guys that or just a bit above, but they are picking them up and dropping them off as well.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -

Most were just patched up (were the electricians had been) and then he skimmed over the entire room.
He was cheap and a good worker.
