The most senior person I could speak to at Tesco said that they don't do price matches.

So much for Every Penny Helps.

So buy it off of Amazon then?

Most stores will NOT match prices for internet only company's because online only companies have MUCH cheaper overheads(less staff costs, less property costs, no clubcard scheme to fund, etc) so cannot compete.

The wonder of the free market is that you can hunt around for the cheapest version of something and buy it, you aren't forced to buy it from the most expensive place!

You've posted this in a credit card section of the board, but to be honest you'll struggle to find anyone on MSE who wouldn't advocate shopping around, so if you're looking for like-minded souls who'd use a term like 'rip off' for this then you might be better off posting it at somewhere like www.dailymail.co.uk

so a retailers profit margin is a rip off in your eyes.

every retailer has their own profit margins and as they are in a business to make a profit, this is not a rip off it is what is called BUSINESS
