Tesco Hudl - can you download from BBC iPlayer?

I have an iPad and one of the main things I use it for is downloading BBC programmes to watch when not connected to the Internet.

I want to get a smaller tablet but know that you only only watch and not download with some of them. According to the BBC website you can download on the Hudl. I wanted anyone who actually uses the Hudl to please confirm this for me because, according to their list, I should be able to download on my Galaxy Ace II and can't!

Thanks. :)

Yes, and when that didn't work I uninstalled and installed again.

I just got a BBCiplayer update on a yet to be listed product via Play store .
  • Yes BBC iplayer will download to the Hudl. It works perfectly on mine and excellent viewing quality.
  • I have a cheap chinese tablet using the same platform as the Hudle ( Android jellybean 4.2.2 ) which works fine with the BBC Iplayer Television but not the Radio... Have any Hudle users been successful with the i player radio.

iPlayer on Android DOES just recently support downloading VIDEO. Downloading RADIO is not yet supported, but is on the way...

I tried on our Hudl a while ago ... it seemed to download the programme but then failed at the end. Haven't tried recently.

@almillar - I use the BBC iPlayer Radio app on my Galaxy S2 ... many programmes are available as podcasts which you can download.

Yes, sorry, I should have been clearer, stacks of podcasts are available for download, which are often edited versions of what's broadcast, usually with the music removed. It's the music that I want to listen to though so I'm looking forward to being able to download full shows...
