OS Daily Monday 11th November 2013

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

• Good morning everyone :)

Can't believe it's Monday already, where did the weekend go to so quickly.

My cold is bothering me, so am arming myself with some paracetamol to take to work. Going to new job first for a couple of hours then my normal hours at existing job .... it's going to be a long day.

Bought a little ceramic fan heater from Lidl yesterday for £17.99 so the heating was off again last night. Am amazed at how effective such a small one can be, and it's very portable too, plus a 3 year guarantee - bargain.

Sausage meatballs for dinner, am back on low carb and I WILL be good this week!

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Morning :hello:

Time to face the music sorry, I've lost track - is this your first day in your new job? Good luck :D

Yesterday was good. The games were things like guess how many sweets in the jar, guess E's tummy size, how fast can you drink out of a baby's bottle (it had a better name than that, but I can't remember it, lol. And no, I didn't play!), etc. I had quite a few cig breaks to escape the noise and people :D I didn't see all the gifts, so have invited myself round to their house to have a nosey. Plus I get to visit Sam (their dog), I haven't seen him for a while :D My brother had Sam for years before he met E, when E moved in he was happy to have her there. But since she got pregnant – I swear he knew before it even occurred to her that she might be – he hasn't left her side. My brother has had to work hard to get Sam to pay attention to him :rotfl:

I've made a few decs. Have you ever invented something, then found out someone else did it years before you? I was a bit deflated :D They're very similar to THIS but mine are red/white and green/white. Not sure about them yet, I think mine look a bit bland. I'll leave them out for a couple of days and see if they grow on me.

I ate soooo many sausage rolls yesterday (best bit of any buffet IMO, lol) so I'll be extra careful food-wise for a couple of days. Lots of fruit for me.

Good Morning everyone, black as Newgate's Knocker out there at the moment and a bit on the chilly side.
Well, another week nearer to Christmas and the time seems to be flying by.I have the school run this morning then home to wait for my pal to arrive from Dartford.I made a lasagne yesterday afternoon for lunch today so we will have lots of time for a proper natter. She has been helping her DD with the new born twins since the end of September and its the first chance she's had to get out for the day.The twins are growing well and now weigh in at just under 9lbs each. Her DD is coping beautifully and is feeling a lot stronger now.
I am hoping she will have some more photo's of the babies I went to see them a few weeks ago and they are just so gorgeous. There's something about a new born that turns sensible ladies into complete mush isn't there :):):)
Mouth is still a bit sore and is taking its time healing, part of my lip is still completely numb since last Thursday I am hoping the feeling will return eventually..
Last night DD whizzed my dinner up in the blender and I had roast lamb and veg all rendered down into a puree :):) It was like being a baby but its the only way I could eat anything at all.:):):)Hence the lasagne for lunch today :):)
Hope everyone has a good day and keeps wrapped up well as its a bit on the nippy side
Cheers chums

Morning all

ttfm I can't believe its Monday again already :(. I definitely have that Monday morning feeling

It sounds very windy , but it's pitch black so can't tell , at least there will be no frost to scrape off the car.

Eggs for breakfast

When I finish work I need to pick up a birthday card for SIL and some hay for the piggies . I should be able to get both from HB :D

Chicken stew for tea as there was loads left over from yesterday , I'll add sprouts and peas to bulk it out

trulove the baubles , brilliant idea . I 'invented' a heart shaped padded hanger for the DDs bedroom , really pretty and really original I thought , t.he next day I was flicking through a magazine and there was a page full of them :D

Have a god day everyone xx

• Morning Everyone!

I'm a bit bleary eyed today, baby engaged over the weekend and since Thursday I've been finding stuff to keep me busy... I swear I'm nesting. Not done that before... But it's taking it's toll! I'm shattered!

Yesterday after Rememberance Sunday Service, I came home and made a triple batch of hummus, an Apple & Cinnamon Cake (with last weeks leftover apples), took the children to the park to play Rugby, made Butternut Squash Soup with Fresh Rolls and the after dinner served the Apple Cake with Custard! That's more then I do in a week... But it was a lovely day :)

Today I need to do the washing, make a few loaves of bread, slice any bread I made yesterday. AND REST!

Tonight is Sausages, Wedges and Veg (anything easy right now)

Hope everyone has a great day x

Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Cloudy, windy and looks like rain here this morning.

DH up and gone to work stupid early.

Lunch yesterday was a roast pork joint, it did crackle but not as much as I would have liked. Thought it would be a bit of a nightmare to carve as bones were still in, but it wasn't too bad at all - and the meat was really delicious. I do prefer meat that still has the bone in it I think it does keep it's flavour better. I did all the normal trimmings with it, roasties, mash, carrots, green beans, peas, cauli/broc/leeks in cheese sauce, yorkshires and gravy. Tonight we will be having roast chicken pieces, with pots and veg. Dried fruit is soaking in brandy at the moment ready for me to make my xmas cake at some point this week.

We went to the caravan and I've got the bedding washed, dired and is now in the airing cupboard. DH washed the front of the caravan down, it now looks lovely and clearn, but if it stays this wet all week it'll look filthy again when we arrive on site on Friday!

I'm going to go to next town shortly to do some xmas shopping, really need to get into gear as I'm rather disorganised this year - the weeks just seem to be flying past. Will do my best anyway, I have got a few bits already but not much. Must crack on.

Keep safe and well x

Grey and wet here again, but we need rain to fill the reservoirs and aquifers don't we :p at least we do not have the snow that was forecast to hit this month.
Just a quickie before I dry my hair, I have a hospital appointment at 8.45 and seeing as it takes over half an hour to get there by car I will be leaving soon. We then have to go over to the place that we ordered the stove from and tell them the new model that we want. After that I have lots of phone calls and paperwork to do, so I doubt if that will be finished until early afternoon.
I will try to pop back later.

Well wishes to all the poorlies ((((((Hugs))))))

Good morning everyone

I haven't peeped out of the window yet but the cat has just come in very wet so I'm going to assume it's not a brilliant day out there :D.
I'm full of the joys this morning, just woke up at 4am again but in a really great mood. Hoping it lasts all day, I think it will as my lovely DD is coming over with my grandson and we're off to Barnstaple on the bus. I bought my hubby a wireless keyboard but it stopped working after a few hours so I'm returning it to Argos. I also have to go to the Halifax as I went past it last Saturday night and someone had left a load of money in the cashpoint so I'm taking it into the bank today. I hope it goes back into the person's account ok.

Church was great yesterday and I caught the end of the local Rememberance day parade which brought a lump to my throat. We had a time to remember not just all those who had died in war but all those we miss. I always say a prayer for my little baby that I miscarried on Remembrance day 2001 but then I give thanks for my beautiful DD10 who would not have been here otherwise.

My best friend came to see me yesterday out of the blue. She's just come back from Israel so had loads to tell me. It really makes me want to go too so that is my incentive to carry on losing weight. I had a sneaky peak on the scales today and it's looking promising despite buying a panini press :o. I had a brie, tomato and ham panini yesterday, lovely. Today I think I'm going to try a banana and nutella one. The good thing is that you don't need to add any butter so it's not as bad as a toastie.

Well, I hope you all have a great day today. Take care and as always gentle hugs for all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x
