Anyone had a tummy tuck....

I was just wondering if anyone had, and what was the recovery like and how recent you had it.

A friend of mine had it done 2 yrs ago, darned expensive and the scars are obvious, worse than the scars from a cesaerian (sp). Not something to have if you want to wear a bikini. Bruising lasted about 6 months, she was warned before hand that the infection rate was high as bathing is difficult for about a month afterwards. Recovery time can be up to 30-48 months in total.

My sister had one 3-4 months ago and she is not fully back to normal yet. She cannot bend quickly or walk too far (or fast) - that kind of thing.

She slept downstairs for around a month after having it done as she was in a lot of pain. She did have a rather large hernia (can't remember proper term for it) removed too though (surgeon noticed when she was on the operating table and dealt with it there and then).

I think she feels it was worth it though - her scarring isn't too bad at all considering the scale of the operation and she feels better about her body now.

OH works with someone who had one over a year ago (can't remember exactly) and she still can't lie flat on her back without bending her knees as the scar is too tight and it hurts! She says she would have seriously considered whether it was worth it if she knew then what she knows now! Obviously I can't comment on the scarring etc as I'm not privy to a closer look!
