    Hi

Yes have had several drives around the area - of course! it was the first step! ,-) - but that 'research' only tells us as much as we can see in a single car journey; & not what each areas feels like to LIVE in.

So this advice is MUCH appreciated.

You can go online and look up the crime statistics for an area (I did this as wasn't sure about the area I have ended up in, you do it by postcode so it will give you info for a street you may be looking at plus surrounding area.

If you say some areas you have seen and liked, you could post them and folk could give you a better idea about the area?

I have lived in several parts up here, as will lots of others.

Do you want local amenities if you fancy rural? Does this just mean a local shop. Or do you want restaurants, bars etc and a range of shops. How much garden do you want? Etc.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
  • Aren't many of the villages around C.of. Durham former collier towns? Property is dirt cheap around there with great views, but you are in the middle of nowhere. If you're young'ish, it may sound great to live in a village, but you will soon miss the amenities of the city.
