Drop Box and samsung galaxy s3 question

Hello,

I have a DB account and DB is also installed onto my new S3.

When I take photos they auto sync to my DB account which is good. In my DB account it has one folder called Mobile uploaded photos.

The thing is I take lots of photos and I want them into folders. The samsung s3 is really easy to put them into folders. The problem is the photos get uploaded as i take them

If i was to turn off auto upload, and then sort my photos into folders on the phone and then turn it back on, would it upload them to DB in their seperate folders... ?

Also whats the best encryption app for the photos. ?

Thanks

  • It is unlikely I would have thought, because DB does not represent the actual storage on the phone. There is no folder on the phone called Camera Uploads, so I don't see how Dropbox would detect new photos according to their folder.

I may be wrong, but that would be my initial reaction. Did you try it and see?

I don't use the auto upload feature, but file managers like ES and Astro have DB integration.

Assuming you're happy to give them your DB login info, you can then access the DB as it if was a drive on your phone.

So you could (I think) keep auto upload on, then use Astro/ES to move the photos to the right DB folder.
  • Ok so you mean like on my windows desktop computer. There is a physical DB folder. In this folder are all my individual folders.

    Sort of.

I think the Android DB app doesn't actually sync the files to the phone like the Windows app by default, in case you don't have much space. But other than that, it looks and works pretty much like a drive attached to the phone.

And of course you can download files adhoc to the phone.

If you want something exactly like the Windows app then install Dropsync too - that modifies dropbox to sync automatically.
