income support details passes 2 COMPLEX dept?

basically someone who ive been helping had to fight a incapacity benefit tribunal which he won after the details were received by income support were were told it would take a few days. we then rang them and we were told it would be around 48 hours before backdated payment would be sorted out - we then waited and now e have just phoned and the income support people said it has been "passed on to COMPLEX (dept)" 'because it was such a convoluted cae. I dont know but were paranoid here than 'complex' means it has not been sorted out. surely the fact that we won the tribunal means that is it just a case of paying the backdated money?? to avoid confusion when incapacity beneift was stopped we have recieveved no income support money in the meantime.- in other words from octovber when it was stopped mp MONEY AT ALL has been paid!

can anyone help???

cheers

I'm not 100% what this means, but usually, if you 'win' one benefit and they backdate it, you normally end up with no backdated money because they then take away the income support that they initially paid. This is because income support does just that - support your income - and once you've got some other money to support yourself they want it back!

In a nutshell, they will be working out how much to take off the backdated money before you get Incapacity. Please tell your friend not to expect a big cheque of backdated money - it doesn't work like that as we found out last year!

Maybe another phone call is needed to ask for a copy of the award letter and to ask what benefits your friend should be currently on.
