Hi.
I wondered if anyone could let me know about hot tub insurance, is there a company that insures it, if anything breaks, or can you cover it under your house insurance?

Breaks as in mechanical cover then you need breakdown/repair cover.

It should be insured on the house contents but may need to be added as a specific item.

If you leave water in it during the winter and it freezes and causes damage that probably wont be covered.

Tile falling off the roof onto it maybe though.

What do you actually want to cover?

Thanks for the reply, accidental damage definitely so will ring my house contents insurance today to see if it needs to be a specific item, but its the breakdown cover that I think I will have trouble with, know anyone who covers this?

I think a hot tub would come under buidings insurance presuming it is a fixed installation.

You can cover for accidental damage with the extension on your buildings policy (check with individual insurers) but they will not normally cover any mechanical breakdown - this would normally be classed as wear & tear which is usually excluded.

Maybe speak to the hot tub supplier / retailer. They may have a policy or know an insurer who could help you.

I would normally be wary about taking insurance for an "appliance" directly throuh the retailer but if you want this and can't find anything else make sure you check t&cs before agreeing.
