AEG cooker extractor hood

This has recently been installed after sitting in the garage for several months.

There are 3 positions for the fan - 1,2 & 3.

However, when we put the fan on, a red light with 'F' lights up.

Does anyone know what's the matter??

Most likely a clogged filter. Maybe debris, protection film or something of that sort?

The extractor does not have a filter - it exhausts to outside via a pipe that goes up into the ceiling and out through the kitchen wall.

Would debris etc. still affect this set-up?

Some have a sensor so may be a problem with airflow being detected, some just a simple timer - after so many hours use, the filter clean needed reminder F light comes on. I think some can be setup either by the buttons or during install, perhaps some wire link put in the connection or mini-switches, I am assuming you don't have the install manual for this then..

Try pressing and holding the F(unction) button for 3 seconds see if it clears it, does on some Electrolux models and AEG are the same company now.

LED for grease saturation (F) or charcoal filter (C or CL) lights up after a number of hours of use to remind you that it has to be cleaned or replaced. Reset procedure is described in the user instructions.
For the models ZHC930X, C8460DM and C8490DM this is described incorrectly in the user instructions, consult the Technical Information department. Metal grease filters can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Use a 65 or 70°C programme and no detergent for this (detergent affects the filter material)!
Some (more expensive) active charcoal filters can be regenerated (see procedure in the user instructions). These filters can be dried in the oven for 10 min. at 100°C.

OK, I've washed the metal grease filters and put them back in the hood.

The red flashing light 'F' is still going.

AEG don't appear to have a proper HelpDesk - just an 08445 number to call, or email (which from previous experience will be ignored). SayNoTo0870 doesn't provide a landline number.

    Any further ideas?
