Moving home&business-maintaining business email and website

I’d really appreciate some advice about how to sort out the IT as I’m having to relocate.

I’m self-employed and have a business domain name, business emails and a business website.

I work from home and currently have a BT residential phone line, and BT Business Broadband.

I’m going to have to move 200 miles away in 4 weeks’ time. No 4G there. I’ll be renting somewhere, no idea where yet. I’ll be away for a couple of years, so will be renting different places I expect.

If I’m going to be moving about every 6 months or so, I don't to have to contract annually or bi-annually with someone like BT for broadband.

My question [and big, big, worry is] – how do I keep my business email, website etc. intact, with no downtime, without having a broadband account?

I currently have an iPad tethered to my iPhone. I use a MacBook Pro for work, and suppose I could tether that to the iPhone to pick up 3G? And that way keep everything as it is now with my website, business emails, domain?

I know I’ve got a mental block about all this - BT have been responsible for months of grief with simple things in the past. I haven’t got the strength to ask them what to do.

I’d really appreciate any thoughts or advice about how to keep my domain, website, business emails working as they do now, without a landline and broadband account. Big thanks in advance.

If the business email is linked to your domain then you can move every hour and these will not change or be effected along with a website unless they are hosting on your ISP account.

I you host with a third party host ( recommended) then these will be hoisted elsewhere and will never be effected if you have no Broadband. As long as you can get internet access you can still operate your website and get your emails.
  • Thanks earthstorm.

Yes, I host with Fasthosts not BT, so get what you say.

Realise I sound like a total bozo - years of BT-induced IT hassles have left me with a phobia about making these sort of changes.
