Have you talked to the neighbour? Nice chat over a cuppa?

I would ask for an itemised bill for sll her solicitor charges, and if they don't relate to the pwa, then find out if you have to pay them.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

OP congratulations on going through your party wall work in accordance with the Party Wall Act. So many people don't and wish they had!

Your neighbour is clearly having issues with the work you are doing but as long as you do it correctly she can have no issues in the future.

Do you have all the paperwork and before photos of her home for comparison? I know the surveyor costs but reflect on the possibilities if you didn't have him!

If the issues she has concerned about is related to the party wall then of course it is very understandable for her to concern and complain. But she is complaining about the fences, the patios, the drains ( which is not her drain) and they are not to do with PA.

She has her house extended previously and the whole thing started because she didn't like the size of our extension which is only 1 meter longer than hers.

Of course we shared her pain of having next door being renovated and we have tried our best to minimise her pain but it seems everything we do in our garden, eg put up washing lines she thinks we are destroying the natural beauty of her garden!

I agree with you, she sounds like a busybody. I would question paying the fees on non PW queries like you asked.

I wonder if the property was empty for a while before you bought it, maybe she enjoyed the peace and quiet any is just playing up. I would remain polite to her though, you are going to be neighbours, she ought to calm down once the work is done.

    Happy moneysaving all.

    !

I didn't even realise there was a Party Wall Act. Interesting - thank you.

This mad bat sounds vexatious and seems to be deliberately going out of her way to cause you trouble.

Whether she's jealous because your building works are 'nicer' than hers and you've put her nose out of joint, whether she was dissuaded from doing similar party wall works and now regrets it or whether she feels that continuing with this crusade will put you off and stop the works, it doesn't matter.

You've done nice and polite and it's not worked. If, as another poster suggests, there is a way of getting any costs not linked directly to the party wall works struck out, then go for it.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...
