But - nothing protects you from having to turn up in person in a branch, on request of a bank, when a bank deems such a personal visit necessary.99.999% of all bank customers will probably not have any issue with this.
because 99% won't get asked...The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
my daughter works abroad most of the year, but keeps her RBS account. We applied for me to become a joint account holder so that if there are issues i can visit the branch - also very useful if she runs out of cash and needs it urgently. There is a high degree of trust needed - on both sides, but it works well for us. Usually i have no idea of how much is in the account. your daughter could set up a joint main account and then transfer cash to a separate account to keep some things private from you if she wants. But you have to trust her not to default on payments as you would be liable.
I also have had a BOS account for over 30 years, but was almost a victim of telephone banking fraud the other week and had to present to a branch to speak to the fraud deapartment on the branch telephone, so sometimes a branch appearance is still necessary. My accounts were locked until i did that and would have been a nightmare to organise abroad. mortgage 2 87,000 due 51,686.76 at july 2013, but then:new home and remortgage ... £101065.43:eek: now 74k

My experience is the same as seven-day-weekend, except in Italy, and my accounts were with Co-op (Smile), Lloyds (including credit card) and Nationwide. Never had a problem, although I did end up with pitiful interest on a cash ISA which I wasn't able to move.0
