tablet sold with accidental damage cover

Hiya,
I am hoping for some advice for a friend.
She bought a tablet two days ago from a large high street retailer.
It was advertised with one year free accidental damage cover- the signage in store advertised this, the member of staff talked to her about it, and the box the tablet came in advertised it too.
When she got home and tried to register for this, she was unable to as it was only available for tablets registered before 31st October, well before she bought the tablet. When she checked the small print, it did say there that the offer expired on 31st October.
She popped into our local branch of the store (not the store she made the purchase in) who said she could only be offered a full refund. They then phoned the store from which she purchased, who said they hadn't realised the offer had expired and if she took the tablet back there they would see what they could do.
Thing is, the accidental damage cover was through Samsung, not the store where she purchased it.
Before she trecks back to the store where she made the purchase, please can anyone advise on what her rights are?

Full refund. She will be restored to the position she was in before the mistake, and has no legal right to more than that.0
