Ill post this here and the students section. Currently im on a yr out from uni and living back in N.ireland as i just had a baby. I am able to claim some benifits at the moment, but wondering if i will be able to claim anything when im in Liverpool as a student, single mum? if anyone can help that would be great
it would just be a bit of reassurance knowing id have some financial help to get the degree completed.

You would be able to claim as you are a single parent however with the extra grants and allowances you get it may put you over the earnings threshold. You must take the grants and loans available as if you don't they would be included in your benefit assessment anyway, they do make allowances off your loans etc for the cost of books, transport etc and I think you get a childcare grant which is not included in the assessment. You should also be able to claim Income Support during the holidays when you are not earning.
Best to speak to your local welfare rights or Citizens Advice who can give you the full rundown on what you can get.
GHood luck with your studies and congrats on your new child!0
