Best place to sell a used car - eBay? Gumtree?

Looking to sell my second car, where would I do best? eBay, Gumtree and autotrader seem likely candidates but don't want to pay to list on several sites.
Anyone recommend anywhere with a good response rate which don't cost the earth?
TIA.

I'd say it depends on what car it is.
Personally I got less interest on Gumtree with my car, but got quite a quick sale and really good price for my car going through Autotrader. Due to my car not being perfect I decided against ebay as I didn't want any hassle with someone turning up and claiming it wasn't as described.
You can list on Gumtree for free and Autotrader in my opinion is worth the price so why not list on both? You can always lower the price if it's not selling and if still no luck (which seems highly unlikely) then you can always try ebay.
Just make sure you give a fair description of the car and take plenty of photos.0 -
put our car on ebay yest and by today it had over 150 views and I have had 9 messages about it, and have now provisionally sold it within a day, thats if they turn up.
Money well spent if they do...0 -
I put my mobile number on an ebay ad when I sold my car about 3 years ago, with lots of pics and someone jumped a plane to get it and drive it back to their abode! Am not sure if ebay still allow this but I put to ask any questions or view before bidding. They offered me cash and so I withdrew it for sale as they sent a small deposit up as well, and asked us to meet them at the airport, it went so well .
I would use ebay again esp if you craftily end the sale without incurring their hefty fees! Gets UK wide viewing and serious people. Gumtree seems to always invite messages from guys in Botswana who has a friend who needs this car yes even car ads get hit by the crims on scumtree lol....NB...People online who are here asking advice for "my friend" they really mean "myself" :eek:0 -
I've sold numerous on eBay. only had one person complain after buying, but he complained about the bad points I'd listed and gone through when he collected. Then he messaged me again to thank me for selling it to him, so i think his missus must have given him grief.
One of my mates has endless problems. Usually ends up selling to foreigners who buy it and then phone a week later wanting money back for silly little things (tyres had less wear than they thought etc)
Never sold on Autotrader but the same friend above has sold a few. The last one had the woman phone him eight weeks later complaining that she'd been stopped by the police and given six points because the tyres were below the limit... and it was his fault.
Sold one on Gumtree. Listed it at 3pm, got an email at 5:30pm and gone by 8pm.
I'd list on Gumtree and eBay.. there's also a few car selling pages, depending on how much it's worth.0 -
What about getting a quote off WBAC? I have been in there once, what happened, I bought a car for £2800 it was far too small and my legs were long in the footwell and I needed to do motorway driving and it wasnt that great etc , so I just took it there and got £1700 less than 6 weeks later, I took a loss but wanted a quick sale cash in hand and no hassle. I handed the keys MOT logbook over and got my tax disc back and the money in bank the next day with no comeback no hassle no stupid timewasting callers!!NB...People online who are here asking advice for "my friend" they really mean "myself" :eek:0
