This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Bright, light cloud and light wind - but looks like we've had a frost - so it'll be a bit chilly.
DH up and in the bath, I'm enjoying a cuppa whilst surfing on here.
Dinner yesterday was ham, egg and chips when we got back from our friends yesterday teatime - spent a very enjoyable afternoon with them catching up. I also did some work on his pc for him as he'd got to type up some reports and said it would take him all this morning to get them done as 1 of them he couldn't get it to read how he wanted. So he asked me to have a look at it, and so I said I'd type them up and check them over - got them done and the 1 he wasn't happy with part re-written and friend was happy. It's funny how you can know what you want to say but can't get it to sound right - but we got there in the end!
We have a large piece of pork for lunch today - got it from the butcher when I went to order and pay for the xmas meat hamper on Friday - it "should" get a good layer of crackling on it - if all goes to plan. Will be doing all the normal trimmings with it, roasts, mash, carrots, broccolli, peas, another veg (I haven't decided what yet), yorkshires, and gravy.
We are going to the caravan shortly as we need to strip the bed and bring the bedding back for me to wash ready for next weekend. Think DH also wants to give the front of the caravan a bit of a wash over as it's really dirty.
Will hopefully get chance later to sit and write out xmas prezzie list, and get organised for tomorrow going out to next town to get xmas shopping done.
Have a peaceful Sunday x
Keep safe and well x

Morning TTFTM, nmlc, and all who follow,
Molly Hugs for you and for your DS.
LW Have fun with Bonnie.
Up early due to DD2's netball match, she is playing at 9 and it is cold!
We are having a few fireworks with friends tonight, it was too wet last weekend, but apart from that, netball and church I am planning on a quiet pottering day.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Hello all, missed my weekly check in yesterday. Hope you are all muddling through. Definitely feeling the cold now. The girls were snuggled up under a thick blanket in the sofa yesterday and the elder one was so cosy she fell fast asleep. This blanket must be at least 15 years old. I got it and then 'hoarded' it and only recently got it out. Glad I did as I was thinking about buying a heated throw!
I think we only tidying and a mystery shop planned for today. The former will however take quite a while. I hate this time of year as I usually only let they girls play out when they have done their jobs but as it get dark early wonder whether they should do it then BUT I can't relax till done and know I will only end up doing it!
Starting to get the Christmas itch and judging by how the diary is filling up know I need to start getting organised. Must add that none of these events are for me. LOL. I was trying to work out when to do our annual Santa steam train where we go to a primark, have lunch with tesco vouchers etc and thought we might go to build a bear as a treat with me finishing IVA. They now have one direction ones so dd2 already know which she'll want!
Off for brekky now.. Have a good day all. Hope you all can spare a moment to remember those that have fallen.Don’t put it down - put it away!

Maybe a chicken and veg stew and Yorkies or dumplings. I made a rice pudding in the slow cooker yesterday , it was awful, all gloopy and sticky. Ended up throwing it away

(((Hugs)) to all who need xx0 -
Good morning everyone
Dry and bright this morning so the washing machine is on and will risk it on the line for a few hours.
Had to turn the heating on for the first time last night but am proud we lasted until now. This is the latest we have ever managed but it's still restricted to just one hour in the morning and one and a half in the evening and will be going straight off again if we do not feel cold
Few jobs to do today but feel like I have a cold coming on so am going to take it easy for most of the day. Will get the jobs done then fancy the sofa, a throw, some honey and lemon and a good book!
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super day
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.LBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Good Morning chums, bright but chilly here in the Garden of England.Mouth is slowly healing but still can't chew very well.We went to a firework do at the pub where I go quizzing and it was really good.two of my grandsons my DD and son-in -law.The 12 year old had never seen a bonfire and I was suprised as it a bit hard to describe before hand what it is.So
Henry " What is it Granny?"
Me " Well people pile as much old junk and wood together then set fire to it "
Henry "Why"
Me " Well its a tradition going back for hundreds of years"
Henry "Do the fire brigade come and tell them off"
Me " No ,its allowed "
Henry " Cool, can I do it with anything I have got in the garden"
Me (quickly) "No,not a good idea as you only have a small garden and it could cause an accident"
Henry " Oh,"
I then had to explain about Guy Fawkes and how years ago we used to burn people at the stake.I couldn't believe that at 12 he hadn't been taught virtually any history at all at school.Apparently History is not considered important anymore in a lot of schools.:(
I wonder what the younger generation is being taught.
The youngest boy Mikey also didn't have a clue about Nov 5th either ,he just thought that fireworks were a bit like halloween, just a thing to sell you stuff from a shop.
When I go there this afternoon we are going to have a long chat about history I think
I watched the Remberance Service at the Albert Hall when I came home and kept my eyes peeled for my nephew (Hugh) who is in it every year.He carries the crozier for the Bishop of Manchester who is his boss. Its always very moving and having been to see it a few years ago its even more so when seen live. The silence when the poppies come down is jaw dropping. The saddest bit is seeing the young women who are the widows walking across the floor.
Well time to get stuff sorted out,my eldest DD is coming for her coffee and chat this morning, and I want to make a fruit cake for her to take home.
Hope you all have a peaceful day what ever you are doing

Morning :hello:

I've been watching the Christmas ads. Hare helps bear discover Christmas – lovely. Singing gingerbread man – fab. Fairy tales – yay. And then there's the Tesco one
Tru I don't do huggy-kissy stuff either – I don't even like shaking peoples' hands, since someone with a hard grip made me yelp in pain! Your post put me in mind of the Sky production of “The Colour Of Magic” where the wizard Rincewind (played by David Jason) said to Twoflower (Sean Astin) “ No hugging – I do not hug!!”

I've had friends of mr tru, who are meeting me for the first time, stomp towards me with wide open arms. I step back (without thinking, it's automatic) and they look offended. It's much more offensive to walk up to a complete stranger and wrap yourself around them actually. Incredibly rude, IMO.
Baby shower dayI found out there's LOADS of people going, and there will be games. I'm worried now, I don't do well in big groups. I know the pub well, so know the escape routes if I need some peace for a few minutes. I really hate this, the baby is my nephew and I want to be able to throw myself into it like everyone else. Still, E will love it so I'll watch her enjoy herself

The museum will have hung all the poppies, hopefully I'll have some daylight time left to nip down to the docks and take pictures. Can't wait to see it
I woke up early so have cleaned out the chickens, done two loads of washing and I'm about to put another load on. Will clean out Timmy in a mo. Kitchen is tidy, just need to wrap the blankets and have a shower. I'll have about an hour to myself, so will try to make some Christmas decs

Morning all,
I've been missing for a couple of days, real life seems to have taken over, hope your all well.
TTFTM I am big softy when it comes to the heating, I don't know how you've held out so long!
The bonfire on Friday was great fun. Only had 4 jacket potatoes left over which I turned into potato cakes yesterday so no waste. Hubby cleaned up the garden yesterday, despite the heavy rain and I took dd and DGS into town, while my daughter had her hair trimmed I took my grandson to the library where we had a lovely hour. I also picked up a lovely Hobbs dress, it's a bit big for me so may well end up on eBay.
This morning it's very frosty, looks very pretty.
Dh and I are off for a ride out and a little walk along the canal. My leg op is getting nearer and I'm very nervous but will be glad to get it done.
DGS off to his dads this morning, dd off to her fellas and DS 2 has some media to do for college. So hoping for a nice day out and no cooking.
Enjoy your Sunday xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning all
Bright here but chilly.
Fish fed and hubby, I had porridge about 7am.
DW emptied & reloaded, WM on for the 3rd time, washing on the maiden, surfaces swiped, hubby's book found, hubby's batteries found, MIL has been phoned & wished happy b'day, 2 more knitting patterns downloaded, compost caddy emptied. I need to tidy the living room as I can't find my kindle, it must be buried under a pile of wool and there some Ann Cleve books I've downloaded & want to read. I also need to make a batch of marmalade as someone wants to borrow my maslin pan tomorrow, she makes chutney every year, uses my pan & I get a jar of chutney as payment.
LW, glad you have a furry lodger, Molly I hope your son is free & safe.
I was hoping to have a cheap month his month and eat the freezer contents, we'll still eat the freezer contents but DGS had his coat taken at school so I bought him a new one & some gloves, so not a cheap month after all. Some good news, the tax man has found an anomaly in the Ex's figures, it's cost him £5k, small joy's, lol, it's a drop in the ocean to him, but it hurts him badly!
I keep getting told off for shouting, hubby has his new hearing aids & I keep forgetting, lol.
I've wittered on long enough, I'm going to light a candle for my Dad, he fought in WW2, El Alamain, got taken off at Dunkirk etc.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0
