Hi i have a problem with laptop black screen. Tried removing power cable and battery then holding on power etc. Failed to start. I can access start up F2 and F12 wont boot though. What is BIOS ? Any advice ?

You can boot to the bios screen then? By failed to start do you just mean windows won't load (ie the POST screen appears and then turns black)? What version of windows is it? Could see if you can enter the windows boot menu first, should be 'F8'

If that doesn't work, do you get any error messages appear or it just a black screen? If there was no valid boot drive it would say so after the BIOS screen.

F8 wont work windows 7 64 bit. Screen goes black after imitial screen comes on

your description isn't very clear, what comes on screen from the beginning, what happens when going into bios/F12, what happens holding F8

If you don't need data, factory restore is always an option, but you need to identify if this is a windows problem or not first.

When hold f8 screen just goes black. I can press f12 brings up a menu press enter for hdd/sdd screen goes black!
Lost back up disc any advice?
Held longer than 6 secs
