software upgrade - explorer

God I hate upgrades! Everything works fine then along they come and persuade me for 'security' reasons, or 'better functionality' I should upgrade to latest version.
And it either does not work or is cr*p!
Latest is Explorer 11. Ever since upgrading I regularly find a message at the bottom of the screen "xxx site is not responding."
I never used to get this, and just don't believe its the site (sites), OR the broadband.
Rant over.
Yeah - I know, switch to Firefox. Maybe it's time. My main reason for not was always "If it aint broke, don't fix it." But now Explorer's broke!
And it either does not work or is cr*p!
