Panels fitted this week

Hi all
New to this and also new to pv, I had 16 panels fitted last Tuesday and Wednesday by Ecohill.
Its been cloudy since fitting day but today was quite sunny and the meter was running backwards for a while.
Up to yet the system has produced 19.83Kw if I'm reading it right.
I intend to keep an eye on these forums for best info.
Does anyone know what the symbols mean on the araura power one inverter.

Hi and welcome,
You may be better looking at your manual for the info on the inverter.
I've also noticed you mention the meter running backwards. That's ok for now but you must inform your electric provider so they can change the meter.
care to expand on your system? South facing? roof pitch? Any extras thrown in like an immersun?(just search on the forums if your unsure what this is)

Hi Thanks for replying, I've tried the manual and its next to useless.

I will inform the fit Co when I apply for it.

The roof faces about 170 deg, the roof pitch I don't know, no extras fitted.
The panels are Trina Solar TSM-PC05a or TSM-PC05a.08 and the inverter is a Aurora Power one

I've just read a rule regarding the fit rules that the supplier/fitter must be registered, on the mcs, site my supplier/fitter is not listed, so I'm getting a little worried now.Pinxton Notts

I'd like to believe that you'll be ok, there aren't that many cowboys in the solar industry(hopefully) and just because you can't see them on the registar doesn't mean that someone will be able to pass your system off.
May I ask your location(ish) and what sort of cost for your system?

My location is Pinxton Notts, the system cost £7000.
Ecohill was one of the recommended suppliers/fitters I think on MSE.

I've just looked through at their website and if they've endorsed themselves/been endorsed via MSE and don't have MCS accreditation i'd be very surprised indeed. Did you not shop around before buying?2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0

Well I didn't know they needed to be accredited, I'm sure I got the info from mse about them, there was a bit of a rush as I also read that the fit may change Jan 01 2014 and it would possibly be lower. Had The Mark group to quote but they messed up and sent a insulation guy over and also tried a free supplier but they didn't want to know because our conservatory was in the way of scaffolding and as its free the extra cost of scaffolding outweighed the profit.
Before getting into this forum and having panels fitted, I thought you just got someone in to fit the panels and then told an energy supplier and sent meter readings to, and they sent you the money for the leccy you sold to the grid via them.
How wrong was I, I just hope all is ok, I did mention the fit may be changing on Jan 01 and needed to put a spurt on a bit to get certified by Jan 01 2014 to the guy at Ecohill but he never mentioned he was not accredited, so I think/hope I worry over nothing.

Hiya Dave. MCS certification is important, very important.
I've just had a look at the website, and if I've got the right company, then MCS is 'claimed' on their accreditation page:

You should get all the paperwork asap so that you can apply for FiTs. If you're worried give em a bell on Monday and have a quick chat.
Best of luck.

Hi Martyn
It was just me whittling after reading that supplier/fitters should be accredited and I had not checked this and was worried that I had spent £7000 and not going to get it back via the fit.

Hi Dave,
Your signature should read 4kWp not h mate.
Don't worry, we were all new to this at some point, at least you've looked to give yourself a little help rather than sit and stew. And to be averaging 6kWh per day since install at this time of year is doing pretty good.....just wait while May-time when you see them figures nearly double....puts a big smile on the face i'll tell you.
Edit
If you can afford it then have a look into the extras that you can add to your system, do you have an immersion heater?2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0
