Caution

Hi,
I have been offered and accepted a job at work.
End of july I was stopped by police and think I was cautioned. I never received any letters through the mail so im wondering if this was in fact a caution. My problem is that I need to have clearance of crb and just in case it flags up. I was informed to send a questionnaire to HR which I did - to show honesty I disclosed the instance.
I have read up and cautions are spent immediately or expire after 3 months.
Any advice is appreciated.

You have to accept a caution. Did you sign a piece of paper?
You should never talk to police officers unless to report a crime.
You should never admit guilt.

Were you taken to the police station? Swabbed, etc?
If you were cautioned this will become spent after 5 years; but will remain on the police national computer until you're 100 years old.0 -
I thought you had to sign for a caution?
All spent convictions are visible on a CRB, unless the crime is something that relates to your role, or is something of a trust issue e.g. theft then I wouldn't worry too much, especially as you have already been honest.0 -

this gives a caution as spent immediatelyYou might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
by 'stopped by the police and cautioned'. Do you mean you were driving, stopped for speeding / something and told off? or you actually received a police caution following an arrest?0

Thanks for the posts guys.
Well what happen was that I went through a red light whilst cycling and they pulled me over. He did say something and I thought it was caution, nothing was signed and I havent received any letters etc.
So I assume that this would be ok?
Cheers

That's not a caution. That's an informal warning. Nothing to disclose.0

you just got your wrists slapped off a copper at the side of the road.
A caution follows proper police procedure0 -

However - having nearly knocked over a cyclist only last week who was doing the same thing, may I point out that you were lucky to get only "not a caution". In a straight out contest between a cyclist and a motor vehicle, the cyclist will lose. Possibly their life. Red lights apply to everyone, not just motorists.0 -

Yeah, however I was in a hurry and it was a emergency I never do it. I have learnt for future.
Can I also point out that a lot of people cross at traffic lights when light is red but this is never frown upon - reality is that its the same as a cyclist and the pedestrian is in fact a barrier to the traffic.
Though I appreciate your point.
Would a crb ask for warnings to be disclosed?
Cheers
