    Good Evening My Lovelies

ally - Thanks for starting us off, sounds like you are getting the work/life balance right

Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.

Not much to report so far as have spent the day at the sheltered accomodation where my mum lives helping at their Christmas Fayre, bit disappointed that I have been busy making and baking all week and not managed to sell a lot but have been and supported them and every little does help. Today's little list:

Work on letter of complaint to Car Insurance -
    Check Banks - Done
    Check swapits - Done
    General Tidy up - Done
OH been for his flu jab (free due to heart condition ) - Done
    Meals from stores - Done
    Check www.freepostcodelottery.com - Done
investigate CC with rewards (we use and pay off in full every month so would be good to get something for nothing, lol) -
Collect items from Next (smaller sizes even though weight maintaining) - Done
Catch up on e-mails - Done (and un-subscribing from those no longer needed)
    Surveys -
    Nectar Adpoints -
    Enter a few comps -
List bits for sale/declutter - FB/Freegle etc - few more bits gone
    Knit -
Read Book (from library) - in progress

Have a good weekend, love to you all.

    Hi all,

Sorry I've been on the missing list.....again work has taken over and I am completely shattered so sleeping most weekends :o

There's not been much gossip in Candyworld. Work has been really busy. I am starting to wind down as I have 5 days left at work.

I've had an expensive week so far though, strangely, as I am leaving work they're not willing to pay for my aat course. So, it's gone on my 0% credit card. Not too bothered by it as I am saving £230 per month on my travel.

I'd best start reining in my spending otherwise I will end up broke again.

    So today I have/will:
    • Meals from stores
    • Went to mr t to buy ingredients for twinks hob nobs....have bought basic items wherever possible incl 30p dark chocolate.....I am trying different combos incl chocolate and peanut butter, own brand mars bar and fudge - strangely nice
    • Watching things recorded on the sky box
    • Checked bank and moved a bit of cash onto the credit card
    • Must do a bit of college work
    • Text my friend using unlimited texts
    • Bought a lottery ticket for tonight....you ever know
    • Emptied my purse of change....2x £2 coins in my sealed pot

Think that's about it for me

    Take care all

Ally - Thanks for tip re bad backs. Unfortunately the muscles I've knackered are buttocks (both sides -tmi!) & tops of thighs. So sore that if I drop something on the floor, I'm like an ancient old crone trying to bend down to reach it! Glad you've been having some down time today.
Carrie loves fanta - Sorry the anxiety is bad at the moment. I've suffered with it myself - it started for such a silly reason, compounded by unhelpful GP - & even now, years later, I can sometimes feel it 'trying to get out of its box'. Hope you're OK.
-Ziggy - Reward credit cards good idea if you pay off in full each month. I have a John Lewis one & Mr f has an M&S one. All our petrol money goes on the M&S card, & I use mine for planned expenses we've saved for & some of our food shops. We have to buy that stuff anyway, it's all budgeted for, so like you, we figured we may as well get a few vouchers for it. I put my JL ones towards presents & the M&S ones are added to our clothes budget. Worth seeing what's out there that gives a reward you would like.

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

Morning! And it's a very gorgeous one here in the North West!

foxgloves - thank you :) I don't really know what started it. I'm not sure now when it did. It's been worse since we moved into this house though because I'm terrified of the LL. Wow, it feels so strange to say that "out loud". I get so frustrated with myself so getting worked up over nothing. I'm a smart, competent, professional woman and I get in such a tizz over nothing :o

    Candy - recipe please!

Anyway, that's enough of that! Complete change of plans today. Was supposed to be sorting the house then going Christmas shopping with m-i-l. OH landing at midnight. OH read flights wrong. He lands at MIDDAY!

    So:

    Good dfw things
    • Put winter quilt and elec blanket on the bed. OH will be cold after Brazil. - done
    • Put bedding in wash. Try to dry outside if weather holds - outside now
    • B/L/D from stores? Depends on how OH feels.
    • Putting dinner in the slow cooker. If not eaten tonight then at least tomorrow's dinner is sorted! - cooking now
    • Use giant spring onions that are still knocking about in the garden for stew - done
    • Put loaf of bread on - done
    • Buy brother's and brother's gf's Christmas present. If I get both on same website I think I can get free delivery. - grrr they dpn't do her size... plus since when is a size 14 extra large?!
    • Put pigment restorer stuff on my hair. I dye it very bright red and it washes out much faster than my hair grows. I bought a tube of red stuff that means I can top it up in between proper dyes. - on head now!
    Not-so-good things
    • OH will probably require heating on although I'm fine after having it on a fair while yesterday.
    • OH may wish to go out/order in after trip away, but can't really blame him.

  • Good morning everyone....I'm another who's not been posting (for aaaages;)), but I need to motivate myself again and watch those pesky pennies:)

My girls have been at their dads since Friday evening so I am having a lovely cheap weekend;) I was very tempted with ordering an Indian last night to be delivered, but it would have been £12...I resisted and cooked a huge Spanish omelette which I still have well over half of...so lunch today is sorted too:T

    Right-o, here's a list for today:
:) Go food shopping later, with my £6 off a £40 spend at Sainbugs...that's the 4th week in a row they have kindly given me one of those vouchers. They've poached me from T£sco:rotfl:
:) Put another couple of items on eBay
:) Wrap eBay sale to post tomorrow....made about £85 last week on a few things
:) Heating on for minimum time...put my fleece dressing gown over my clothes instead.
:) Get girls bedding on line outside while the sun is out
    :) Iron work/school clothes
    :) Hoover upstairs
:) Meat from freezer for tomorrow's stew is defrosting in the fridge
:) send shop&sc@n barcodes and check my points balance there
:) Maybe bake something nice for us to eat later on....:j

That's enough for me, better go and have a shower now then do he ironing....fun filled Sunday:p
I really need to sort out a new signature!

    Candy - recipe please!

    Morning Carrie,

I use the standard twinks hob nob recipe but reduce the sugar and before shaping into balls I add in chopped up chocolate bars, chopped up chocolate or peanut butter and mix in well.

So far the popular flavours are (of course I use own brand wherever possible):
    • Mars
    • Bounty
    • Crunchie

May try smarties at some point

If you can't find the original recipe I can post it here later

    Enjoy them

Yes, pigment restorer sounds very useful......as I also colour my hair red & can't stand it looking a rooty mess quite as quickly as it does these days!

    Afternoon all,
Well, I'll try to concentrate. mr f has decided to watch 'The Mummy' & as he's got a hefty cinema system, I keep getting surround sound howling & groaning right down me earhole.
    A few small things today:
*Ran washer overnight on Economy 7 tariff. Have reloaded for repeat performance tonight.
*All laundry pegged out on line. Cold but bright, sunny & a bit of a breeze. Worth a try....will go on heated airer later, which I won't be switching on till bedtime to maximise cheaper tariff.
*Bought a few odds & ends from Christmas Presents list from Waitrose, spent more than £5 which meant we got a free 'Observer'.
*Free coffee each (My Waitrose card)
*Posted 2 competition entries & entered 3 others online.
    *Did a few surveys.
*mr f reached his Ugov target after about a hundred years of trying & claimed his £50.
*Visited village butcher, spent £11 on meat. Split it into parcels before freezing, as I will get a decent amount of meals out of this.
*Read energy meters & add the data to my chart.
*Finish knitting sock.....didn't get it done last night as too dark watching film by candlelight ('Cabin in the woods' - what a strange film that was)
*Shock, horror......The Body Shop actually had my skincare products back in stock BEFORE the offer ran out tonight. The offer code is SPARKLE if anyone can use it. It's 'Buy 2, get 2 free' which I think is about the best offer they do. I love the pomegranate moisturisers, but not paying full price. Ordered 4, should have been £68. The offer got it to £36, then with my 'Love your body' card, I got another 10% off, so paid about £32 & qualified for free p&p. Not encouraging anyone to be spendy but if anyone has Christmas gifts to buy, & could use this code, I think it expires tonight.
Think that's it for me.....going to read my free newspaper now & then, I've got to finish that bloomin' sock!
    Cheers,
