When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

Afternoon DFW-Jedis,
Just a quick visit to start the thread for you all. I've been offline for a wee while. It was a choice: get some much needed rest and have family time with OH or post on this forum. Rest and family won.
The List:
Had one drink in the pub with OH. Didn't invite friends to avoid a quick drink turning into a whole afternoon's drinking.
Bought a DVD in a charity shop for tonight's entertainment. Bumped into an old acquaintance in town. Didn't invite her back to the pub for a drink. Admittedly she did have a child with her and pubs are IMHO not suitable for children (unless they have a beer garden).
Treat sniffles with hot drinks and herbs from stores: Fruit tea to which I've added honey, lemon juice, ginger and clove.
Checked online banking.
Do upstairs housework using washable cloths.
Treat tiny amounts of black mold before it spreads.
Wrap Christmas gifts for OH using homemade gift wrap as we have two tonne of coloured printer paper doing nothing.
Back later, housework calls!

Not much money saving going on here today, but Hi, anyway.
-Shared bath water, but probably ate up most of the energy savings by having to wash my hair twice. Couldn't get all the mud out first time -been cleaning out pond.
-Didn't go into town as was feeling spendy so any naughty little splurges nipped in the bud.
-Try to finish knitting Christmas Present no. 7.
-Enter competitions.
-Heating off. Trying to keep it off today for a bit longer yet.
-Let washed hair dry naturally to save energy.
-Loaded washer with pondy clothes to wash overnight on Economy 7 tariff.
-Remembered to charge phone & tablet first thing before tariff ended at 8a.m
Not much of a list today. Am achey from being bent double over pond & having to catch frogs & move them to safety. Going to have a real treat tonight & order in pizza or fish & chips. Can't remember when we last did this, so it'll be nice, plus film & candles.
Hope everyone having a good weekend,

Afternoon!
Thanks to Ally for starting us off.
Foxgloves - sounds like a lovely evening planned
Where is everybody? You mean you all have lives?! Where can I get one?
Been awol for a couple of days with total work-related madness. Went to a friend's wedding reception last night and didn't spend nearly as much as I thought I would :A
Also got home to find the elec/gas bill. My energy saving measures are paying off! Bill has reduced from £113 a month to £91 :money: (house is very old and draughty so costs a lot to keep it even reasonably not cold). Daily average gas consumption has reduced very slightly but the electricity has gone from 11.1kwh to 7.1kwh :T
Today's good dfw things- Housework
- Heating on for two hours when I got in as house felt cold and damp. Will probably put on for another 2 hours later.
- Plan items to buy tomorrow while Christmas shopping with m-i-l
- B at friend's house, no lunch as late B and still full. D from stores
- Try to do something useful. Crafty, baking, anything! Totally lost my mojo all week, anxiety very bad but feeling a bit better now.
- Finally decided on a tension rod to try putting a curtain over the front door!

OK, I'm back.
The List 2:
Housework all done. Can't remember the last time we bought cleaning products. We're using up all the ones we have first.
Foxgloves, if your back aches stand with your back to a wall. Place a tennis ball between the sore part of your back and the wall. Roll your body around a bit. Instant massage! (Tip courtesy of my Physio OH.) Alternatively arm Mr Foxgloves with some massage oil...

Afternoon peeps
Naughty spendy day today, but it was DM's birthday yesterday so treat lunch, plus my godmother is here - which is a very rare occurrence!
This is me:
- Checked all banks
- Tried on dress for DM to make alterations to
- Bought an easy clean mat for the bottom of my oven, will save me a fortune in oven pride!!!
- Update spreadsheets with todays spends and pay off CC immediately
- DD bought herself some 1D PJ's with her own money
- Friend's house for dinner tonight, will take a bottle of diet soft drink rather than vino as I am trying to diet
- Don't need to use car today
That is about it! Heating has been on to make sure my washing got dry relatively quickly but I don't mind spending on heating, I lived for so long in a cold (but characterful) cottage I am enjoying this
JxNothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0 -
Hi guys yay the weekend!!! :j
Been swimming with dd and dgd this morning then went to a cafe for lunch. Also going to cinema with oh this evening so quite a spendy day.
Small things though!
check banking
make banana bread to use up bananas
taking own snacks and drinks to cinema
also taking 3d glasses
flylady'd spare room
take up jeans
update spreadsheet with spends
sent an email about the tiles I want to get for the bathroom
spoke to my BFF about hiring a skip and she thinks her dah can get one for a better price
That'll do for one day
Josie how are you doing on your diet? I've managed to stick to mine for 1 week and have lost 2lbs :T
Carrie sorry to hear you are suffering with anxiety. Is it because your oh is away? Hope you feel better over the weekend xDF as at 30/12/16

Yeah tell me about it!! Can't wait to get myself a nice bright, warm SQUARE house :rotfl:
DNMS - thanks
I suffer on and off quite badly, and I get worse in the winter. I'm not actually worried about OH but I think having him around probably helps keep me calm more than I realised. But he is back tomorrow yay! LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -
