Unauthorised debit by Churchill insurance

in Credit cards
Churchill have taken 2 amounts from my credit card totalling over £500 for insurance I have not requested. These are the only 2 erroneous transactions on my card, so I am thinking it is their fault, though they will not tell me much. I always pay my CC in full, but shall I not pay these amounts, and incur interest while Churchill decide they are not the ones being ripped off, and hopefully claim it back from the them, or pay the bill in full, thereby accepting the charge, Mastercard were very ambiguous on this point when questioned?

Have you rung the bank that issued your card to put the transactions in dispute?0

Why did churchill have your card number? Was it for a previous policy renewal? How far apart were the debits made?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Auto renewal of insurance I would sayEx forum ambassador

Yes have disputed the transactions with mastercard, but as I say they are vague about paying it off, and interest charges. Yes I took out legitimate insurance from churchill 2 weeks prior, (for £150)! And the CC statement shows it for an auto car renewal, which every year I tell them they are not authorised to do, but every year they still think I want to automatically pay over the odds.0

I thought it would be easier to say mastercard - obviously not.0

OP - if you did not specifically cancel the insurance on renewal then they will argue that it was authorised.
What you say about telling them not to auto renew is irrelevant - if you accept their policy you may have to accept this term.0 -
Yes I rang to cancel the auto renew. I always do. This amount would have been £185, not £500!0
