Northern Rock Silver - the down side?

It's just as well the account has such a good rate, otherwise I think I'd give it a miss. Opened it a few weeks ago with a few hundred and topped it up last week. Went on yesterday to check on the new transfer which didn't appear on the statement, but it was hidden away under 'undisclosed funds' or some such title. Other accounts show transfers on the statement with the proviso they haven't cleared, or can't be used.

Today I logged on (that alone takes forever) to check on the interest which they state is paid on the 19th of the month. 20 minutes ago, still not showing. My other accounts always have interest showing on the morning of the day it's due - why not Northern Rock?

Their web page is clunky - time they got in better professionals.

Why don't you use the Sainsbury's Bank Internet Saver instead. It was very quick to set up and internet access is very easy.

Tend to agree - but things should improve. They do say:-
"Please note that we are in the process of developing our website so that we can provide you with an improved online service"
".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."

I really hope they do as I find their site horrendous to use. I spent ages last night opening another account for my OH and when I had a look again tonight I began to wonder if I had done the right thing in the first place. I did complain to them a few times but they just burble on about security. Smile bank has been voted the best on line account a few times and its very easy to use. Just a pity their rates are rubbish.
