Royal canin light from amazon on a subscribe and save basis is around £22 per month and my three love it. Two of them have slimmed right down but the third doesn't seem to have changed a lot so guess she is getting food elsewhere.

Have you ruled out a medical condition causing the weight gain? I know cats are more prone to hyperthyroidism which would cause weight loss, but some can get hypothyroidism for example.
