Might want to look here https://sales.talktalk.co.uk/product/broadband/ just to see if he is offering you a good deal for talk talk.
Make sure you know what broadband you are getting because most bb with up to 16mg speeds end up being 1.5 - 2 unless you live next door to the telephone exchange. You need fibre optic really if you can get it where you live.
Also plenty of comparison sites out there for bb tv phone packages and dont forget quidco/ topcashback

Thank you - that does look as though it could be useful with future problems (although I can't immediately see anything that helps me out of my current hole!)

I'm fairly sure that I am just missing a very bascic (and obvious to other people) step.
