That's exactly what I showed them last time and they reluctantly accepted that when I explained I have it paid into the back but she definitely said that wouldn't be accepted next time as things can change, that's when I said that I wouldn't be getting any younger, would I?

In that case I would make a formal complaint in writing to your local council and copy it to your local MP and BBC Watchdog - pity Esther Rantzen's "Jobsworth" award is no longer available....;)

I've read and re-read this thread and have sympathy for you whitesatin, but in relation to documents, all I can see is what they refuse to accept. I can't see anywhere where you've asked them very specifically (and you have to be very specific with jobsworths!) exactly what documentation they will accept. And you mustn't allow them to get away with 'we need evidence'. If they say that, then you need to reply 'I understand that, but please tell me what specific evidence you need.' And you have to keep going on like that until they break down and tell you! It's called 'Broken record' and it's a technique designed to be used with evasive people.

If after a lengthy spell of broken record you still aren't getting anywhere. ask to speak with their 'supervisor', and start the process again. Make sure you get their names as well.

Stay cool but be persistent.

I'm not sure that will work.

From a couple of the OP's posts, the people working there can't even agree what is acceptable proof.

TBH, I'd give it up and do as someone suggested a few days ago - go over their heads.
