Indesit washing machine - programmes/temperature

If there are any experts on Indesit Washing machines...
I have a specific question about my Indesit IWME126 although it might be common to several models.
In the manual on Page 10 it shows all the programmes with their characteristics, programme numbers on the dial, cycle time and the wash temperature.
http://www.indesit.co.uk/_pdf/booklets/02/40/19507677600_UK.pdf
For example, Programme 3 is 'colour cotton', 40degrees and 85 minutes.
On this washer there is a temperature dial to set 20 through to 90 degrees.
My question (finally!) is does the temperature dial override the programme dial? I can't see this anywhere in the manual and it seems strange that the programmes all have a temperature setting yet there is a temperature dial.
Thanks

I have edited this post. Apologies for any confusion.
Yes it does but downwards only.My question (finally!) is does the temperature dial override the programme dial?
We have a different model Indesit and I am assuming that yours works in the same way.
The temperature in the programme is the recommended temperature but the actual temperature will be that temp or any lower temp you select with the temp dial. You can't make a programme run at a higher temp than the default.
You could run Programme 3 at anywhere between 20 and 40 degrees but Indesit are suggesting 40 degrees. If you set the dial higher than 40 degrees, the programme will still run at 40 degrees. it won't run hotter. For example, Programme 3 is 'colour cotton', 40degrees and 85 minutes.

The above is my understanding of my machine and I can't be certain that it is the same for your machine or any other machine.0 -
I have the same settings on my Indesit and would agree with the final bit from Avoriaz in that the separate temperature dial will over-ride the programme's temperature but only to lower the temperature - if I'm wrong, I'm washing all my clothes at 90 degrees which is where I leave my dial set to!0

Having had another look at my machine's booklet, I may have got it wrong.I have the same settings on my Indesit and would agree with the final bit from Avoriaz in that the separate temperature dial will over-ride the programme's temperature but only to lower the temperature - if I'm wrong, I'm washing all my clothes at 90 degrees which is where I leave my dial set to!
It may be that my machine's temp dial only over rides the temperature downwards and not upwards. The booklet doesn't make it clear but it does suggest that.
That is actually a sensible design as it avoids the problem of someone expecting a 30 degree wash and getting a 90 degree wash because they forgot to change the temp dial.
I'll edit my earlier post.0 -
