Struggling to get refund for a my internet host

Hi,
a couple of months ago I purchased a SSL certificate from Heart Internet so that I would have a secure server for customers making payments.
After 3-4 weeks nothing had happened and I went back and forth through the support ticket system only to be told that I could have an SSL certificate as I was not a LTD company. I then asked for a refund... I have been going back and forth now with them telling me that the refund had been issued, only to wait and find that nothing happened. I have had numerous excuses now and am very frustrated...
They again told me that my money would be back in my account today - it isnt!!
Is there anything that I can quote from sale of goods, or from the ombudsman that would force their hand?
Thanks in advance.

I'd wait until midnight before saying that it isn't in your account today.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
Also, this would appear to be a B2B transaction - so none of the consumer laws will apply.0

I assume this is what you meantI went back and forth through the support ticket system only to be told that I could NOT have an SSL certificate as I was not a LTD company.
Heart internet are correct in not refunding SSL certs, this is the same with Domain names as these are paid out to third parties.
It looks like you have ordered an organisational SSL cert or EV certificate, which yes you need to be a business that has to be regsitered ( ltd etc.) and need to provide the documents to prove this.
Which SSL did you order? I am a host and will be able to guide you on what you really need to provide for the ssl cert.0 -
Yes earthstorm that is what I meant...
All i'm really asking is, as I haven't received the goods I paid for I should get a refund. They haven't refused, but it is taking weeks and weeks to get anything, even when they say the funds will be with me the next day....
Its just getting absolutely ridiculous now.
Some advice on whether I can quote specific laws or whether I can threaten the ombudsman would be appreciated.
Thanks0 -
Sorry, forgot to reply about the actual SSL - I have decided against doing at the present time and just want to get the money back that they have said they will refund...0

No and no.
It is a b2b transaction, so it is covered by whatever the terms of the contract say about refunds. Consumer laws do not apply.
As far as I know, there is no ombudsman for hosting providers (earthstorm can probably confirm this since he's in the business).0 -
True no ombudsman for hosting provider, although wish their was, then we could get rid of all the fly by night kiddie hosts that give the industry a bad name.As far as I know, there is no ombudsman for hosting providers (earthstorm can probably confirm this since he's in the business).
with hosting services you should ALWAYS read the terms of service.
OP if its just a basic site you want an ssl for then look at
http://powerssl.co.uk/
http://www.namecheap.com/ssl-certificates.aspx
you can get an ssl from $8 a year (approx. £5) that would do the job.0
