Wood Worktop with Wood Floor?

As the title suggests, we can't decide about our flooring choice in our kitchen.
We have decided on a laminate dark bamboo worktop (http://www.diy-kitchens.com/laminate-worktops/duropal/mocha-bamboo/#.Unzen9K8A_U) to go with gloss off-white units.
We've just opened up the doorway between the dining room and kitchen, so whilst not completely open plan, we think the flooring should match throughout to avoid a threshold between the two rooms. We like the idea of oak veneer floorboards but are worried about wood worktop and wood floor. Has anyone else done this (particularly with two different shades of wood) and how does it look? Pictures or links would be really helpful!
And if anyone has any other flooring suggestions, particularly tiles that wouldn't look out of place in a dining room, that would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

Hello,
We have these tiles in our kitchen and utility room. We are really pleased with them and everyone who sees them thinks that it is a real wooden floor like the rest of our house.

They are really easy to lay too.
I think as long as your wooden floor is a different colour to your worktops it would look fine. So with the darker wood workshops have a honey coloured floor.0 -
I entered the same dilemma last year. my builder mentioned posh line.. which I turned my nose up at. However, I didn't want tiles and have a cold floor.
I found TARKETT 'RHINO' ....posh lino. You can find it in local flooring shops but it is much cheaper on line.
I needed to run something through the kitchen into the dining room
I opted for 4mm thick, oak wide plank look flooring .It has been down a year and puts up with heavy traffic and is still perfect. I have been asked where I got my 'oak flooring' from as it looks so real.
I am still amazed by it! It looks fab!
I coupled this with 6x4 bevilled wall tiles with grey grouting ( no splashback as you will be cleaning forever)
Linos have come along way since my youth.... I would thoroughly recommend.:T0 -
I don't think real wood or ordinary laminate is a good idea in a kitchen, too easily damaged.
Our daughter has this......

Right through the ground floor of her house, looks really good. She has the natural oak, and walnut laminate worktops, so a good contrast.
Very easy to cut and lay, clicks together like ordinary laminate. Virtually no expansion/contraction, so only minimal gaps are required at the edges. These can be sealed to the skirting with silicone if required.
She has it laid diagonally, so you don't get any problems with walls not being at exact right angles.0 -
We have a similar layout and went for tile effect laminate in the kitchen and oak in the dining room/lounge. Have seen many open plan kitchen/diners with different flooring, we have oak worktops and windows so wanted a contrast.0
