Discretionary driving ban
hello
My son has just been issued a 28 day driving ban. he didn't attend court due to work commitments. My question is when will he get his driving licence back. Does he have to wait until the 28 days are up or will he get it back earlier with the endorsement on it. He hasn't got points just the ban. Does the court actually do this or does it go to the DVLA.

As the ban was for fewer than 56 days she should not need to reapply for his licence - it should be sent back to him with the endorsement and details of the ban written on the counterpart. It's only for a ban of 56 days or more that you have to formally apply for a new licence at the end of the ban. (Linky)0

The problem with the .gov site is that it only gives general advice, which is often inaccurate - as it is in the OP's case.
The correct advice is in Aretnap's post0
