Buyer has minus one bad feedback

Buyer has received 2 (bad) feedbacks resulting in a score of minus one. I don't want to post the item as I am sure there will be trouble and result in neg feedback for me. Item is only worth £2 with £8 postage (to Ireland) so not worth £10 from buyer. Can I cancel and refund the money paid by paypal?
Can someone please advise me what to do. Thanks in advance.

.. if you cancel then he will undoubtedly neg you anyway.

If hes in ireland, did you say you were prepared to post internationally?
Also, if he has paid and you are going to post it, send it via a trackable method if possible.
What was his previous neg for?0 -
You risk a neg and a NPB dispute by not posting... but I'd be wary of sending.

Thanks for replies rec'd. Buyer's previous (2) negs were for shoes - which is what I am selling. They are only worth £2 - not £10 (inc. postage to Ireland).
I am thinking of emailing her to tell her I don't think the shoes are worth £10 and that she might be disappointed - and so if she wants to cancel, I will refund her money to her paypal a/c. Is it worth a try???0 -
Were the negs recent? As long as he pays up I can't see a problem. If I didn't post to anyone with a negative feedback I would never post anything. And no one would post anything to me either

What do the negs say?
- Buyer never paid
- Buyer bought shoes, put cow dung in them and posted back
- Buyer was abusive nutter
Seeing as they have actually paid, you've got at least the payment problem out of the way.My TV is broken!

Its easy for new ebayers to get neg feedback as they dont always "get" ebay culture and impatient veterans of ebay often neg newbies without good reason.
My first experience resulted in a neg, luckily it didn't prevent me from going on to having many successful transactions, if the score is your only concern, i'd go ahead with the deal and use trackable post as they have paid already, if there is another issue then express your concern with the buyer before completing the transaction.0 -

I always thought the oppposite to be honest.
I'd always thought that sellers tend to give new ebayers more leeway, I certainly try to help new ebayers by maybe contacting them slightly more if I don't get payment, rather than going straight to an NPB on about 10 for someone more experienced.
Also newbies are quite eager to do things right and will often email asking strange things like 'I've paid so what do I do now?' (yep I've had one like that).
A newbie with an overall negative score would ring huge alarm bells for me and I have my settings set up to block such people.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi
I had a similar problem with a bidder from Nigeria, who bought a mobile I was selling. I have since set my preferences to UK only and sometimes put in my listings for overseas bidders to contact me first... I did something a little naughty - emailed, very apologetically, to say that unfortunately my little girl had broken the mobile. It wasn;t true, but was an realistic scenario. I sold it a few weeks later successfully and was glad I did, because the originally Nigerian ebayer was 'no longer registered with ebay'. You have to be careful, but I too give extra time to help out newbies. Not everyone is dishonest, but we can't assume. Good luck with your Irish buyer - and I hope no cow dung gets put through your letter box next week!Homer: I want to share something with you, Bart: The three little sentences that will get you through life. No need for niceties when it comes to Nigerian bidders on mobile phones - they have are as likely to be legitimate buyers as I am likely to be in line to the British throne! My TV is broken!
