ooh, and finally, the cheeky beggar who turned up friday night, and waited in the rain turned up last night, and had a right do at me for not being in and not still having the stuff. ended up shutting the door in his face.

 That's seriously scary! It's starting to make me wonder if I'll only deliver stuff in future and not give out my address.
I only ever give out my mobile number - and that's just for an old handset I use with a free SIM card in, that I got off the freebies board. Never ever give my personal number to strangers (but that's because I got anonymous horrible calls some yrs ago, and the police advised me never to give out personal phone numbers. Only trusted people - family, friends - get my 'real' numbers now!!)

On one of my groups today
    Taken - blue IKEA rug

Hi - a lot of people still emailing me about this - it has been
collected very promptly tonight. Also, please when emailing for stuff,
use some manners!! There are lots of people who are very demanding in
their emails and its rude as the items are free. Thanks

:T Good for you! Glad its not just me that gets the grabbers.

    OFFERED- AGAIN!!!!! xxxxx
Two people have been offered these xxxxx, neither had the courtesy to
respond to the offer after they requested them or show up to take them
    so I have relisted them!
On the subject of courtesy, I have contacted two people recently in
response to their WANTED ads - neither has bothered to respond.
In a similar vein,I thought Freecycle was about doing our bit
environmentally, not a Wishlist for Argos?????
I love using Freecycle but I do think a more courteous attitude should
    prevail.

from one of my groups this morning. I sent a 'well said' email of support.
thought about giving her a link to this thread so she could come and have a rant and a laugh with us :D

got a reply to my email
    Thank you
I have been quietly seething for a while but today thought, " Stuff it!" and posted my thoughts!
I've had lots of emails echoing my thoughts, which is good to know!
    Cheers
was in two minds (Yes, got a spare from freecycle) whether to email in the first place, as I didn't want to offend or annoy them, but glad I did now.
I'm also pleased that they got other support emails as well from like minded people.

talking of argos shopping lists we had this one in a few minutes ago
hi i am looking for one of these wardrobes http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6412915.htm
if anyone has one going spare i would appreciate it. must be this oen to match with other furniture, also i need it delivering as i can't drive. look forward to your emails.

yeah, as if is my opinion, how cheeky to post a link, and say it must be that one. if i was a mod it would have been deleted and them advised if they in that much need of a wardrobe to accept whatever is offered. grrrrr makes me mad.
  • This thread has made me laugh. It seems that all freecycles are the same!

On a slightly different note, I was offered a few bits and pieces for my kiddies - a dolls bed, wardrobe etc.

I was thrilled to bits to win this and the lady even offered to drop them round my house. Trouble is when I got them they STANK. I mean really bloody honked. My and DH actually heaved when we smelled them close up. After THREE washes in the washing maching, the smell was still there and the washing machine had started to smell! I'm afraid they are going in the bin.

sent the link and said that I had quoted them.
    Been reading!!
I'll sign up - it made me laugh!
The best one I've seen here was someone asking for a VW campervan!!!
Oh, and the time someone made a heartfelt plea for a desperate, destitute widow who wanted a sofa. But added it must be blue!
    Priceless!!

so we might have a new recruit, if nothing else at least she had a laugh
