If you take a general view of the comments that we post relating to our dealings with freecycle you could consider that these posts can act as an advance warning to potential new freecyclers of what to expect from the minority. But we also praise the great and the good which should encourage people to join. There have also been instances where help and advise has been given, so long may that continue.
It's only when we start getting nasty, pointless comments that we rise to that things start going wrong, but then the mods do remove a lot of the posts from the guilty few.

I love posting on this thread I hate it being turned into a chat room

No the reason for the silence is because I have got a life. I don't sit here reading this thread all day.
If you two have any further questions please PM me and I will be happy to answer them.
I don't want to turn this thread into a chat room
    Thanks

....But you're reading it now!!! And why??
If I'm one of the 'two' you are referring to, then no, I won't bother to PM you. But I will heed your advice and put you on ignore.
I won't keep you - you've got a busy life - so get on with it and leave this friendly MSE forum alone. Bye
:grouphug: A smile, a 'please' and a 'thank you' cost nothing

Our Freeview box died this evening and I would be grateful if anyone had a spare going
    begging.

Did you have one under your bed Pam?

(Sometimes this thread remains me of being back in school, always one or two trying to spoil things! It's a bit of FUN. From time to time we may stray off topic but not for long! New posters are always warmly welcomed. It is not mandatory to read this thread so if you don't like it, don't log on.)

    Two quick questions:
-why does no one email back a thank you after they pick up your stuff?
-if I offer stuff to someone and they ignore you, how long do I have to wait before I offer it to someone else, who may bother replying?

People should email back to say thanks, if they dont it means
    1) They are ingorant and have no manners
    2) They rarely use the internet
    more likely 1
    Question 2)
Wait 3 days for a response and then offer to someone else!
    Glad I could help

    A) on my group they won't let you post a received messege if you didn't post a wanted. but there is nothing stoping them emailing you direct if they have your email address.

    B) if some one was to ignore me after I had offered them something, they would not get it. It's your choice who you give it to. If you have more replys offer it to some one else and report the person who ignored you to the moderators.

    Thank you for your responses.
If people can respond to an offer within seconds of it appearing on the board, then they should be able to respond to you.
And of course they have my email - that's how we communicate about where and when to pick up. Personally I have sent huge thank yous to the two people I picked up from. I have yet to receive any messages for the six items I gave away. It just seems weird... But I am new to this...
I offered an item to someone yesterday, asking for an asap pick up. But there has been no reply, even though initially she said she could pick up immediately (that's why I picked her). I have had interest from five other people. Three days, wow. But then again I am in a hurry, as when I offer I put the items in my porch and they are in my way until someone picks up.
Ho hum. Maybe another message might get the ball rolling.

Hi, I'm moving into a new house and have no furniture. Anything considered, especially double bed, washing machine, bookcases, tables, drawers, wardrobe. ...

    Not fussy then???
