Hostel last minute cancellation

Hi I recently booked a hostel down London and they cancelled my booking on the Wednesday evening at 8:15pm. I was supposed to be staying the Friday and Saturday. This caused me to have to do a last minute rebook and left me significantly out of pocket. The hostel was booked through hostelbookers. Am I able to get some money to cover the extra expense?

Thanks

And/or did you fail to confirm or something similar?
  • They cancelled due to the hostel overbooking. Everything was squeeky clean on my end

Any terms on the website you booked via about cancellation?. Hop on trivago and find a last minute deal, there are other beds available. If they cost more for similar accommodation you could try threatening court proceedings for the difference. Hostel owners aren't really about good service though, you may have to follow through. I think from what the OP has said that it's a past event, and they are now looking to recover the additional cost that they've already spent on alternative accommodation.
