Gambler. There is a product which I use professionally, made by Zarge. I got mine from a Dulux decorating centre. It is a triple with a number of features:

It has a splayed leg design on the bottom section - giving a lot more stability.
Each section has a locking safety locking device.
Can be converted into a very tall step ladder.
Can be converted into a shorter step ladder.
Can be converted into a tressle.
There are other permutations as well.
Can be enhanced with a number of accessories (purchased separately) :
A wide ladder standoff (this has rubber feet)
A Running board (in tressle mode)
A leg extension (for use on uneven/sloping surfaces) - even stairs
A foot platform to ease leg strain & a paint platform.

    Gambler. PS

In use, I feel safer than using my Youngmans double. It may have a little more bounce, but the larger footprint and sectional locking gives one more confidence (better than under-arm deodourant anyway). Brilliant for tree lopping. Finally, it is a perfect length for fitting to a small/medium sized car as there is less overhang (which is something most people forget about).

I'm not a Zarge salesman by the way.... but I'm open to offers!

Ladders online are looking the best bet at the moment as prices are reasonable and free next day delivery.

Measured the garage this morning and I have space for a 3M to be attached to the wall so it looks like it'as gonna be a triple.

Probably go for a trade version too as only about £14 difference in the price and a little extra length too.

Many thanks for everybody's help on this.

Have you considered hanging it diagonally in your garage?

From right front to left rear?

We use red fibreglass ones at work, they come in different heights but also can be used as steps. They have locking mechanism if you extend them and come with a longer bar you bolt across the bottom with rubber feet on giving you better grip to work from. Not sure where they are from but would have to meet all safety standards.
