Hi, only just noticed this after being away for a few days. How did it get there? (its a small shower en-suite) and how do I get rid of it so it won't come back?

I had a similar problem. Simply wiped off the mould and sprayed with anti-fungal spray. It's all down to lack of ventilation. Keep the doors open when you go away.0

Black spot mould is a common result of a condensation problem. What economiser has said is correct....it's about lack of ventilation. If you have an extractor fan in your en-suite, use it and keep it on for a short while after you have used the shower, If you have a window in the room ensure trickle vents are open and perhaps you could leave the window open after taking a shower. As condensation forms on cold surfaces, perhaps the installation of additional insulation above the ceiling would help. If there are numerous layers of wallpaper on the ceiling this will make the problem worse by absorbing lots of moisture in the air so you could strip it off and redecorate (adding wooden panelling or cork tiles etc would probably help, but may not be to your taste)
As for getting rid of the mould, you first need to get to the bottom of the cause and then you can treat with a fungicide (or diluted houshold bleach) leave to dry out and then decorate with paint containing a fungicide0 -
Thanks. The en-suite doesn't have a window which could be a problem. The extractor is on a timer set to go off 10 minutes after the light is turned off.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. I've used Dettol anti-mould spray which comes in a green spray bottle, very good also.0
