30's/40's/50's on minimum wage?

I think theres a lack of opportunity around here as the vast majority work in warehouses, factories, care or shop work (and a lot of these are in decline). The nearest major city is Derby and Nottingham and a lot there are call centres or shops too so either way people might get a bit more but theres the travelling costs and time to take into consideration. I think it does depend where you live as to what wages are in many areas, but if there was a search within 20 miles of here for wages of 20k or more you'd probably be left with mainly government based roles as I don't think there are many private companies that pay these kinds of wages any more. I know my friend who is a deputy manager of a store gets about 17k a year, but works 50-60 hour weeks, so even on more pay it prob works out about minimum wage when its all worked out and hes in his early 30s:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one
