Evesham

We are looking at moving to Evesham and I would like opinions about where specifically to buy please. We have a young family so priority is schools and ideally access to local parks etc. At the moment I am looking at the Bengeworth area, but it's difficult to gauge what the area is like from afar.

Many thanks in advance for any pointers.

Evesham is lovely and Bengeworth is fine, my only issue would be that this year alone the school had a reception intake of over 60 children. With the 500 new builds currently going up this number of children going in to reception classes will only increase. I am currently moving out of the Bengeworth catchment area for this very reason. The villages surrounding are very nice.

Parking can also be an issue in Bengeworth, unless you get a house with a drive you have to park on the road and I know my friends who live in Bengeworth often have to park four or five roads away depending on time of day when they arrive home.

Bengeworth has older bigger houses with large gardens, but has the associated issues with an area not built for today's number of people/cars etc. I personally wouldn't buy in Bengeworth but instead go to newer properties in Davies road or the Warrens, which may have smaller gardens but are less congested as areas.

thank you for the information. I have basically worked backwards from Evesham high so the other feeder infant school would be st Richards. Do you think the area around there has the same issues as bengeworth?
  • With the exception of Fairfield (I grew up there, so not being a snob) most of the catchment to st Richard is quite nice, however not so sure how good st Richards is as a school?

I'll double check the ofsted reports.

i like the look of some places I've seen in Hampton. My husband will be working near south Littleton so does anyone know whether it would be a nightmare crossing Evesham? I live in South London at the moment and four miles can take forever!!

I'm from South London and moved to Worcestershire. Don't even think about the traffic. Even Worcester at rush hour is nothing in comparison!

  • Evesham is a lovely town.

With the view of schools, I'd highly recommend finding a property that would give your children placement into St. Egwins Middle School, and then onto Prince Henry's High School.

Prince Henry's in particular has an 'Outstanding' OFSTED report (2013) and has consistently achieved this grading for many years. In terms of league tables, it sits amongst the top public schools in the county.

For location, there's a new build development called 'The Orchards', Taylor Wimpey, Barrett Homes and Bovis are all building there.

Avoid areas like the Rynal, bengeworth and port street.
Area's in Evesham that are worth mentioning are Green Hill, which is near Prince Henry's School, Broadway Road is also nice.

Pershore Road / Hampton is a nice area with a farm shop. Cheltenham Road, and the new Persimmon Development here is also nice.

There's a large estate called four pools in Evesham. I believe this to be ok too.

Outside Evesham you have villages like, Broadway and Fladbury which are very nice.

Broadway is stunning. London prices though - perhaps not out of reach for the OP!
