Macbook Pro or entry level everyday laptop?
As the title suggests - which one? I can't decide which one - currently favouring the Macbook
I really liked my Sony Viao top of the range one I had for 7 years before the design fault with the lid finally killed it off after a few attempts for 2 years previous.I managed to keep it going though!
This time around I think the Macbook Pro might be a good buy or should I just go for an everyday one that costs £400. I can't imagine that it would last more than a couple of years without driving me mad with faults.
Any advice guys and gals?

Ferrari 458 or Ford Focus?
Depends on your planned usage.0 -
If you can afford the Mac then why not. I just bought myself one and am loving it so far!

A £400 or a £2,000 laptop, which should I buy? Completely pointless and meaningless thread.0

firstly, the MacBook Pro starts from £1099. But the £999 MacBook isnt to be scoffed at
Secondly, to the OP, for me a Mac gains "value for money" if you use it for what it is good for, photo and video editing, networked with other Apple products and the iCloud. That being said a PC can do that just as well.
What do you need a laptop for? if it's just farmville and Facebook get a £250 laptop. If you want to edit photos etc then try a Mac.
If you buy a mac I'd recommend purchasing AppleCare with it you're guarenteed that this big expense will work for at least 3 years with that (as in you can get it repaired for an additional 2 years after the first year...)0 -
Apple are quite likely to offer 10 months 0% interest finance soon, on the run up to Christmas/New Year. I took advantage of that last year and bought a MacBook, haven't regretted it.0

What is the main use of the laptop?0

As others have said, it really depends on usage. If it is leisure use then you are better off with a cheaper laptop.
I have a 4-year old MacBook Pro which still work as good as new, even after updating to Mountain Lion and then Mavericks. I have put it through its paces, using it for building phone applications, photo editing, websites etc. The customer service, assuming of course you have the need for a MacBook, is also to be considered. I recently had to get my hard drive replaced, (incidentally, if you are going for the MacBook try and find someone with education discount because not only will it save you money but you will get an extended warranty) and the service was outstanding.0 -
