in Credit cards
I just received a text from CardService saying:
"Thank you for your Vanquis Card application. We will contact you with a decision within 10 days; you do not need to call us. Thank you."
I didn't apply for a Vanquis card! Is this text just a speculative scam or a sign someone has tried to set up a card in my name? Should I just ignore it or should I worry about identity fraud?

Who knows. Very worrying. It doesn't appear to be an obvious scam if it doesn't give a number to call them on.
i think I'd get online and get hold of my credit files from all 3 agencies as a precaution (and maybe put a CIFAS marker on as well if I was unduly worried).
Is there a number? Have you tried googling it to see what comes up?

That's what I was concerned about, I can't see what the scam is since they don't ask me to call them or ask for any further details. The phone number is 22737378423. I searched it and found this info: http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/22737378423 Someone says they had the same message and rang Vanquis who had no application from them so it may just be a scam but I can't see the point.0

More likely an error when someone entered their phone number onto an online application.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
What would help to resolve this is if anyone who does have a Vanquis card can say whether they have ever legitimately received a similar text. If they have then it is most likely to be an error with the phone number, if not then some sort of scam is likely.0
