hey milocat
Don't worry, I have £13000+ debt and my SFD is May 2018 but I'm determined to get it gone by 1st Jan 2017. Everyone has different amounts of debt and different amounts they can afford to pay off.
The biggest thing that has helped me is joining a challenge thread on here whereby you signed up and pledge to complete lots of money saving challenges each month. It helps me focus and everyone logs on records their progress. It has been a massive support to me, you might find it useful. If you are interested, this month is called Just say NOvember, it's in the Debt Free Wannabes forum.
Try not to beat yourself up about your past spends, there is nothing you can do to change them, so you might as well make a plan and move forward.
Good luck, big hugsLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Hi
Didn't want to read and run and having just read your diary, not only wanted to wish you good luck - but to say it's Free Listing on eBay this weekend.
I'm not good at eBay either, sure someone more experienced will be along soon to share their wisdom.Back on the DFW Wagon:

Great news with your eBay listings and a clever way to take advantage of testing 24 hr then using 7 day. I may steal that idea, only trouble is I've got my priorities wrong...I'm in the 'make a cup of tea before listing' and am on number...err...lost count :rotfl:
I worked today (extra) and have a few listings ending tomorrow, so it's catch up time for me.
Have you got an Aldi near you? Not sure what they do in the kitten range of foods (maybe none, but worth checking), but I feed our 2 adult dogs on their 10kg for £6.99 dry food and it lasts roughly a month.
Anyone you can borrow a ladder from - neighbour, friend, family?
Enjoy your tv treats tonight - mine will be Strictly and X-Factor

The one thing that strikes me from your SOA is the entertainment figure. Is it worth breaking this down on paper somewhere a bit to understand how you spend it?
Do you have a lot of nights out and would you be better off agreeing one night a month doing something special(arrange in advance so you can look forward to it) and then some DVD (from charity shop)+wine nights at home together/with friends or similar?0 -

Milocat, you've been through so much in such a short space of time, I think it's incredibly brave of you to face up to your finances now and work on making your situation better for you and OH. Best of luck, as others have said, being young just gives you more time to sort this out!
I'm a stress buyer and I find it much easier to justify expenses when I'm buying for someone else so I know how hard it is to stop but if you and OH can get on the same page about spending then you'll be a much stronger team together to fix the finances.
Take care, all will work itself out in the end!Credit Card: £3500
Borrowed from parents: £2650 (was £3250)0
