Heating a room for 8 pence a day, brilliant idea!

The guy said he used 4 candles at once, twice a day. I make that 8 candles at a penny each. No, it goes wrong on line 1.
Surely it's 152 watt hours DIVIDED by 8?
Also, TeaLights cost a penny from plenty of places, not 8p...
I don't think a single candle would heat much of the room.0 -
To quote the two Ronnies again. What a load of "Billhooks" !0
-
And wearing two fleeces as in the video will also keep you warm0

this will work and make a small difference.
to anyone that isn't good at science (i got o level aa) it works by stopping the heat from the candle from going to the ceiling straight away and letting it be released slowly.0 -
It's flawed logic I'm afraid - tea lights are now £1.75 for 100 at IKEA not £1. True cost is now 14p a day!

Our Sony Bravia TV is so big and gets so warm when its on it heats the room by itself.
Pity it runs on electricity though.:(This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I think the guy who made the video vastly underestimates the effect his desktop PC is having on warming the room. Mine keeps my room at a steady temperature when on right now (with the heating off) when it's 8 °C outside.MillicentBystander wrote: »It's flawed logic I'm afraid - tea lights are now £1.75 for 100 at IKEA not £1. I hope he has a good insurance policy.
There is no way I would have such a dangerous fire hazard in my house.
I don't even allow scented candles now since one caused a fire in my house.
On another note my computer raises the room temperature, the room my computer is in is always 4 deg C warmer than the bedroom next door.0 -
Its now been reported in Daily Mail
