I am in the process of moving from Airtricity to Electric Ireland. The process has been more tricky than I thought as I have been told by Airtricty customer services that Electric Ireland don't provide a service to Northern Ireland and that I will have to stay with them??? Anyone recently moved from Airtricy to Electric Ireland and know how long it takes and also do I have to submit a final reading to Airtricity or will Electric Ireland do it for me!
Really appreciate the help!

I am moving from budget energy to EI. So far so good in that I called them up to switch, they took meter reading and MPRN over the phone. I emailed Budget a few weeks later and they confirmed the closing meter reading and that I was no longer an active customer.
I am waiting for the direct debit forms from EI to come through post. I don't know why they told you they don't offer a service to NI people!Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34

Hi!
I moved a couple of months ago (airtricity to EI). Very straightforward moving. Weird though setting up the billing. Finally got my first bill a week ago.
Seem like nice folks though. No complaints.0 -
Any electric ireland customers know what their best bill pay rate is at the moment? Any sign of it changing?
On their website they only have guaranteed until September 2013?
With budget at the moment and they've just sent a belated update of rates so looking around. Budgets rates
Keypad: 24h standard: 15.679p / kWh
Credit meters (Bill Pay) 24h Standard: 16p / kWh
Gets on my wick that bill pay is more expensive, doesn't make sense, especially as budget force you to pay for a month up front when you join, so its not like they are giving you credit.0 -
EI's best is still 14.77p (15.31p - 3.5% discount for online billing & DD).

The latest bill I have from them (this month) shows this 3.5% discount is continuing from 1/10/13 to 30/9/14. However, that doesn't mean that the underlying unit rate won't change at some point, although there has not yet been any word of such a move.0 -
I'm still waiting my customer number and DD mandate form. It will be 6 weeks at the end of the week. Might give them a call to see what's happening.Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34
