Clark's are fab! Who knew???

Just wanted to sing the praises of Clark's shoes because they just made me very happy!

I've just discovered that I can place an order online (up to £500 which is LOADS OF SHOES!!!) and not only have them delivered to store, but they don't charge you first. Which means I can try them on and if they don't fit I can leave them there and walk away without having to go through the rigmarole of having them refunded. I can also choose which store so I can go to the out-of-town Mothercare Clark's concession (which is on my way home) instead of schlepping into town and paying a fortune for parking.

This is a HUGE deal for me and I'm thrilled!!! I am officially in love with Clark's now :D

I've always struggled to buy shoes because I have HUGE feet for a girl (size 9 or 10) and so many shops only stock up to an 8 and, if they do stock a '9' it's a continental 42 labelled as a 9, and I'm definitely a continental 43.

Anyway, I need new shoes. And for most women this is a great thing. For me it generally means four hours of traipsing around town feeling like Cinderella's ugly sister, desperately trying to find a pair of shoes to fit my clod-hoppers in. Most shops don't display by size and the shop assistants start by saying "Show me which ones you like and I'll check if we have your size" and by the time I've sent them to check on two dozen different pairs, they are no longer interested in serving me! And it generally ends in tears (my OH's) as I eventually give up and go home in a strop, still with no shoes to wear. Honestly, you'd think we were paupers the state of my footwear. I wear them til they are literally falling apart because it takes me that long to find a replacement pair!

This time however, I have selected half a dozen pair of shoes which will be delivered to my local store when I can go in, at my convenience and try them on then pay if I like them. No more distressing and futile shopping nightmares!

A simple thing, you'd think, but this makes me sooooooooooooooo happy! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

GO CLARK'S!!! Don't ever change...
You had me at your proper use of "you're".

Clark's do proper size 9/10's?? Wow, I didn't know that, I normally end up in Evans as it is the only shop I know that does, or buying men's trainers/boots! Thanks!!!

They do this for school shoes too. My son has really skinny feet and they don't get many shoes in the narrowest width fitting. Last time I ordered a few pairs online to be delivered to store and we were able to pick the pair that fit best :D
Here I go again on my own....

It's great to hear such praise for a company.

My shoe size is at the other end of the spectrum - size 2.

It's almost impossible to find comfortable shoes, but generally buy Clark's children size for dog walking. They fit well and last for ages.

Might try this option next time I need new shoes.

I struggle with Evans' shoes. I have pretty slim feet and most of their shoes are EE or EEE fitting and my feet slide around in them. I can get away with an E fit if I'm going to be wearing socks with them, but I can't buy any shoes I want to wear tights or go barefoot with.

My OP may have been a teensy bit over-excited, but you have no idea how happy I am to be able to buy nice shoes that fit me!! :p

  • Another size 9 gal here!

Did you know that Asda, Primark, New Look, Next and M&S all stock a size 9? Ok the first 3 aren't going to be as good quality as Clarks, but I do have shoes from NL which are 2 years old and still going strong! The ranges are limited but it beats only buying from Evans.

I too love Clark's shoes. Have ordered from their website many times and have never been disappointed. Much prefer using website than visiting local store. It's quite ironic because when a child detested their 'birthday'range. Now days only wear Clark's shoes.

OP, I feel your pain, my feet aren't especially big (size 6) but they are wide.
Like you I LOATHE shoe shopping. When I do manage to find shoes that are comfortable I tend to buy several pairs to avoid having to endure the torturous process again for as long as possible.
