What kind of visa? What nationality are you?

Visa's can be applied for directly from Australia house - you don't need to use an agent.

Just make sure you use the correct site as posted above. there are loads of sites that will charge you extra. With all visas use .gov sites.
  • Hi,

Which Visa are you trying to get and which nationality are you? I've had 2 Australian Visa's first was a working holiday and the second was an e-visa. You can apply directly though the Australian government immigration website immi . gov . au If your going for a working holiday visa unless you want everything before you go Tax code, bank account etc don't go with a paid service like STA everything can be set up very quickly when you get into Oz and for free!! you just need an address for a week or so to get the ATM card sent to. The e-visa was free.

    Hope this helps :-)

Glad I found this board as we're hoping to visit son and family next year in Perth. Had no idea that we needed visas !

Well the Australian definition of Visa for EU tourists just means to register your trip online before you go...

That isn't strictly true. There are exceptions that may mean that you are not eligible for an evisitor visa

Thanks for all your comments. Flight booked with Cathay Pacific. We considered seats with an extra 4" of leg room and 1" wider at a cost of £2000.00, we decided against it. Now looking at booking an hire car collecting at the airport. Going through Travel Super Market which is coming up with the best initial prices, but have not followed it all the way to the basket. No doubt with loads of extras. Anybody done this before and possible pitfalls?
